Disassembly of the engine is performed by a licensed mechanic who begins the inspection process as he removes components noting defects in written from. After disassembly parts are degreased with pressure hot water and soap in a washing machine. They are then given a final cleaning in a high powered ultrasonic cleaning machine. They then undergo the various applicable inspection procedures such as mangnafulx and dye penetrant inspection as well as plain old visual and dimensional checks.
The camshaft is inspected to determine if it is a candidate for regrinding. The crankcase is visually inspected for fretting. If fretted it goes out for rework
by a specialist. If not, it gets stripped and DYE Penentrant inspected and will be reinstalled if it passes.
